2024 TOURNAHU Sauvignon Blanc

Inspired by our creek-side parcel perfect for the fragrant "Musque" clone sourced from our neighbor, the Panek vineyard, our 2024 Tournahu single vineyard release was fermented in three neutral oak barrels and one stainless steel barrel using Perlage yeasts, then aged on the lees for six months. This combination helped frame the wine, add texture and nuance, while preserving the wine's natural freshness and vitality. The result is a welcoming yet sophisticated wine with pure flavors and a lively quality that beautifully realizes Joanne's vision for this special vineyard.

Tasting Notes

This wine is unfined and unfiltered presenting a pale straw appearance in the glass. On the nose there are alluring notes of white floral and citrus. Aromatics of jasmine and honeysuckle are intertwined with grapefruit, key lime, and just beneath a layer of minerality reminiscent of wet limestone.

The palate is both generous and focused, delivering initial flavors of grapefruit, candied meyer lemon rind, and white peach giving way to mineral and white tea notes. The wine has wonderful structure with a slight creaminess that leads to a persistent mouthwatering acidity, evocative of Sancerre wines, that keeps you coming back for another sip.

2024 Growing Season

The 2024 growing season began with heavy winter rains which saturated the soil and laid a foundation for healthy vegetative growth. This winter rain was critical in preparing the vines to weather multiple heat events, upwards of 100 degrees, over the summer months. With the soils charged with ground water, the vines had the horsepower to produce healthy green shoots, shielding the fruit from any direct impact from the hot sun. The 2024 growing season was remarkably balanced with a diurnal swing to cool nights giving the vines stable persistent growth.
